A History of God's Faithfulness in Ireland

The evangelical story in Ireland developed through several important transitions. revival movements, including the 1859 awakening in Ulster, strengthened Bible-centered faith and missionary sending; modern Irish evangelical churches are small but increasingly multicultural and locally led. What began through particular mission movements increasingly became the work of national believers who built congregations, trained leaders, and adapted ministry to local realities.

  1. Early Beginnings

    Bible-centered renewal movements developed within Irish Protestant traditions long before the modern evangelical era.

  2. 1900s

    The 1859 Ulster Revival produced widespread conversions and strengthened prayer, preaching, and lay witness across the north.

  3. Independence Era

    Irish churches became notable missionary senders during the late 19th and 20th centuries despite the island's sectarian divisions.

  4. Modern Movement

    Recent decades brought rapid secularization, declining institutional religion, and substantial immigration into the Republic.

  5. Today

    Evangelical congregations today are small but increasingly multicultural, with new church plants in Dublin and other growing cities.
