A History of God's Faithfulness in Papua New Guinea

Lutheran, Methodist, Anglican, evangelical, and later Pentecostal missions translated Scripture and planted churches across Papua New Guinea. Local evangelists then carried Christianity into remote highlands and isolated language communities. The strongest future is not additional outside control but better Bible teaching, indigenous leadership, and discipleship that can function across extraordinary linguistic diversity.

  1. Early Beginnings

    Lutheran, Methodist, Anglican, evangelical, and later Pentecostal missions translated Scripture and planted churches.

  2. 1900s

    local evangelists carried Christianity into remote highlands.

  3. Independence Era

    Papua New Guinean evangelists carried Christianity deep into the highlands and among remote language communities.

  4. Modern Movement

    Modern ministry combines Bible translation, leadership development, disaster response, and church renewal across remote regions.

  5. Today

    Papua New Guinea's largest need is not formal Christian access but deep discipleship across hundreds of languages and remote communities.
