MISSIONS IN
God is moving in Zambia
Zambia is a heavily Christian nation with strong evangelical churches and growing potential as a regional missionary sender. Three unreached people groups represent about 108,700 people, with Swahili speakers the largest listed community. The greater challenge is church depth: strengthen biblical leadership, serve rural and mining communities, respond to drought, and mobilize mature Zambian believers for mission beyond their borders.

The movement’s lasting strength has come as national pastors and believers assumed greater responsibility for ministry. That history matters because today’s churches must serve nominal Christians, Muslim minorities, and small unreached communities with greater local ownership.

Contemporary ministry in Zambia now intersects with small farmers, mining families, and poor urban households and rural districts and mining communities. Churches also need practical readiness for drought, floods, food insecurity, and disease outbreaks.
Churches in Zambia must reach Swahili within a frontier of about 108,700 people while also serving small farmers, mining families, and poor urban households amid freedom is broad; church integrity, poverty, and shallow discipleship are more important concerns.
