A History of God's Faithfulness in Kenya
Kenya’s evangelical missions history explains much of its present church landscape. Africa Inland Mission entered Kenya in 1895 and built stations inland; alongside CMS, Scottish, Friends, and other missions, it helped form large African-led churches that later embraced revival and missionary sending. Over time, responsibility moved increasingly toward local pastors, evangelists, teachers, and congregations.

Early Beginnings
Africa Inland Mission's first party arrived in Kenya in 1895 and established stations among inland peoples.

1900s
CMS, Scottish, Friends, Methodist, and other missions also built churches, schools, hospitals, and training institutions.

Independence Era
African pastors and evangelists increasingly led major denominations, while the East African Revival deepened lay discipleship and witness.

Modern Movement
In 1971, Africa Inland Mission transferred authority and property to the Africa Inland Church in Kenya.

Today
Kenyan churches now send missionaries across Africa and beyond while Somali and other Muslim peoples remain significantly unreached.
